Starbucks Scents
Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering | 2018 | Product and Packaging Design | Designer
For this project the goal was to create a new product and packaging concept for an already established brand. Starbucks Scents is a seasonal themed hand sanitizer line that features some of the most famous and viral drink flavors. This concept was created in 2018, but I do believe it would have been a hit 2 years later during COVID!
Goals:
Translate Starbucks’ brand identity into a new product category (wellness/cleanliness).
Capture Starbucks’ most iconic scents (strawberry acai, peppermint mocha, pumpkin spice and summer sunrise) in a way that feels authentic and appealing.
Evoke comfort and familiarity, linking smell memory to the Starbucks experience.
Create a design that can live seamlessly in Starbucks retail environments (near the register, seasonal displays).
Creative Direction Statement:
Starbucks Scents turns everyday sanitizing into a sensory ritual, infusing the brand’s iconic aromas into a lifestyle accessory that’s comforting, portable, and distinctly Starbucks.
Visual Themes:
Illustrations/textures that feel homey and inviting.
Limited-edition collectibility, tying sanitizers to the same excitement as seasonal menus.
Clear refillable containers - reinforces Starbucks’ sustainability goals.
Moodboard Keywords:
Everyday luxury
Collectible
Familiar
Tools Used:
Illustrator (background)
InDesign (poster)
